CENIT PRONAOS Project 2008-2011

Scientific research aimed at developing a new generation of food for weight control and obesity prevention (Project funded by the CDTI).

7 leading Spanish companies in the food industry and universities are working together to develop functional ingredients to prevent obesity and develop food products with that same objective. BTSA is participating in the project through a derivative of oleic acid and its extensive knowledge in stabilization of food against oxidation.

 

Draft Implementation Project of the GMP legislation

BTSA as a new manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs – Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients), has updated and improved its quality system based on the principles of GMP, Quality Assurance and Risk Management of Quality. To carry out this process of implementation of the GMP we have been reviewed, advised by external consultants highly trained and qualified, all our facilities and equipment involved in the production process, as well as our quality manual.

 

Project Omega 3

Together with the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Complutense University of Madrid, BTSA is developing a new line of Omega 3, with organileptic and antioxidant properties, available in various formats, such as oil, water dispersible powder or microencapsulated.

 

New derivative from oleic acid

BTSA has recently acquired a patent for a new product obtained from oleic acid (acid 2 hydroxyoleic), originally developed for cancer treatment by the University of the Islas Baleares, but now also it’s been shown that it is able to restore blood pressure if administrated in small doses.

We obtained the patent to use the derivative as a functional ingredient in the food industry, and we are developing a new way to synthesize this product through enzymatic reaction.
